I know I'm a day late & a dollar short. Breast Cancer Awareness is in October.. but obviously breast cancer, lumps, or any thing else related to breast cancer doesn't just strike in October.
Today I am returning to my doctors office for my ultrasound. Sorry, this is not an ultrasound looking for a little peanut in my belly, it's an ultrasound to "diagnose" this lump in my boob.
Should you be worried? Absolutely not.
A few weeks ago I discovered a lump in my right boob. After a few days of procrastinating to call the doctors office, I couldn't take listening to Jer nag at me every day to go get it checked out. (And I mean "nag" in a loving way. He was just worried) I made an appointment and got in the same day. The NP felt my boobies and was unsure of what the lump is. I know I previously stated you don't need to worry, but really, you don't.
Does she think it's cancer? No.
She believes I have one of two things.
1.) A benign cyst. (and given my history of ovarian cysts, I think this is the case)
2.) Fibrocystic Disease. (a very common benign condition of the breast)
I monitor my lump every day.. some days it seems bigger, some days it seems smaller. Of course, today, it feels almost non-existent. I just hope the ultrasound can determine what it is, to put everyone's mind at ease. =]
